Welcome to your first year at Robert Morris University! As a first year student you will be making a number of adjustments. At times, it may be difficult to be a first year student on a new campus, but there are a number of resources available to help you. We encourage you to do all you can to become part of Robert Morris. Check with your RA and look for publicity outlining the different programs available. If we do not have something you need, contact our office and/or talk with your RA. Above all, make the most of your first year at RMU! Here are a few helpful tips to get you started.
Ten Helpful Hints for Surviving Your First Year of University Life
- The year will fly by faster than you think, so utilize time management skills.
- Don’t miss any part of orientation or first year programs.
- Get to know the resources available to you. These include: Residence Life Staff, your advisor, academic faculty, and many others.
- Pick your friends carefully the first week. Avoid those people who do things that you may not want to do.
- Learn to manage your time. You will be setting your own schedule.
- Find a quiet place to study and follow a schedule.
- Get involved in some type of organization or hall activity like Residence Hall Association.
- Talk to your professors. Do not be afraid to approach them.
- Take care of yourself. Make sure you eat healthy, exercise, and sleep.
