Critical Thinking Skills 

Tips to improve your Critical Thinking Skills:

  1. Identify a purpose or goal.
  2. Develop questions about the purpose.
  3. Use your past experiences and try to relate them to the situation.
  4. Clarify what you know and don't know.
  5. Create visual images.
  6. Decide what your point of view is on the subject.
  7. Write out your thoughts and make them understandable.
  8. Use problem-solving strategies.
  9. Find other views and more evidence.
  10. Examine the other views and evidence.
  11. Consider different views and alternatives.
  12. Eliminate those views that are not reasonable.
  13. Examine the positive and negative consequences of your conclusions.
  14. Solve the problem, issue, or situation on your own or with others.
