Dear Students, Parents, Colleagues and Friends, welcome to Science Department at Robert Morris University!
The degree-offering Department of Science was founded in 2004. The Science Department has seen explosive growth in the last 4 years. Science offerings today include a B.S. in Environmental Science program and a B.A. in Environmental Science with concentrations in Pre-Medicine and Biology Teacher Certification.
The Pre-Medicine program prepares students for careers in a variety of health professions. Linkages and articulation agreements have been formed with several of medical colleges and hospitals including a tripartite agreement with Allegheny General Hospital and the Drexel University College of Medicine.
In addition the department hosts a unique, University-wide, interdisciplinary Forensics minor. In July 2008 the Pennsylvania Department of Education approved a new B.S. in Biology program. An emerging post-baccalaureate program in pre-medicine is also under development at the current time as are courses in biotechnology.
Students benefit from the School's small class sizes, which allow them to receive personal attention from dedicated faculty members who bring a combination of academic and industry experience to the classroom. The School's close ties to local industry offer students the opportunity to engage in real-world problems under the guidance of their professors. Students receive hands-on experience through laboratory experiences, field trips and internships.
I invite you to explore this site. Its pages contain valuable information about our science programs. You will also learn about our student organization, SEA-Students for Environmental Awareness: its recycling program and other environmentally-sound projects.
Get in touch with us if you have any questions and interest in Science at RMU, and environmental sustainability in particular. We are looking forward to hear from you!
