At 6'1", Sugiery Monsac is a basketball natural.
She traveled the world as a member of the Dominican Republic National Basketball Team at the age of 15. At RMU, she led the Colonials to the Northeast Conference Tournament and to their first-ever berth in the NCAA Tournament.
But her greatest achievement so far, says Sugiery, happened off the court.
"Graduating from college is the proudest, most important moment of my life," she says with her signature mega-watt smile.
At RMU, Sugiery met mentors who helped her develop the confidence she needed to succeed—on and off the court. "The coaches and teachers gave me a chance to grow up and become more confident about who I am."
"When I leave, I will remember the little things the most," Sugiery continues. "Cooking my favorite dish from home—rice, beans and chicken—for my teammates and friends. And laughing. That's the memory that will stay with me most."
