Tuition and Fees:
The tuition for all budgets is based on actual amounts determined by each student's major. Please refer to the Tuition & Fees Schedules for costs.

*Special Major Flat Rate Tuition is $24,645 for Biology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Media Arts, Nursing and Nuclear Medicine Technology.

**New Student Orientation Fee is a one time fee charged to new undergraduate students who enter during the Fall 2011 semester.

***Residence Hall Association Fee is a $3 a year fee charged to all resident students to help defray the costs associated with educations, cultural, and developmental programs and services in the Residence Halls.

****Student Government Association Fee is charged to all traditional, undergraduate students each semester.  The fee is $20 a year for full time students and $10 a year for part time students.  The fee is used to defray the costs of social, leadership, cultural, and professional development programs sponsored by the Student Government Association and is also used to provide funding to student clubs and organizations recognized by the Association.

*****Early Success Program Fee is a one time fee charged to new early success undergraduate students who enter during the Fall 2011 semester.

Room and Board:
Housing costs can vary significantly based on the living arrangements you select. The university residence halls offer a variety of room fees and meal plan rates. In the above example, double occupancy room rates and the Patriot meal plan are used.

Since commuters are living with parents/relatives we assume no charges are being paid. Off campus rates are determined from the national average calculated by The College Board.

Books:
Costs for books and supplies vary by program, course load, and classes selected. The figure used is based on the average book sales calculated by the RMU Bookstore.

Transportation:
Transportation for resident students is determined based on transportation requirements for trips to home, semester breaks, and holidays.

Commuter students' costs are calculated using the Federal mileage rate assuming a student travels 60 miles a day, three times a week for 30 weeks.

Off campus figures are determined based on the national rate provided by The College Board.

Miscellaneous:
This category represents every other student expense - clothes, personal hygiene, student insurances, entertainment, etc. as determined by The College Board's national average.

Loan Fees:
Most federal loans have a 3% origination fee that is deducted from the loan prior to the funds posting to the student's account. Fees will be added to the budget for each student that borrows a loan based on their loan level.
