Overview

The online M.S. in Higher Education helps professionals develop the skills and competencies to advance their careers in higher education or to switch from a current executive or management role in a corporate setting to one at a college or university.  It is also a great graduate degree for military personnel who can apply the leadership skills they have learned in the military to a higher education setting.  It is predicted that higher education will continue to be a strong employment field for the foreseeable future. 

The degree program focuses on the management side of higher education.  Upon completion, graduates will have a general knowledge in higher education to assist them in seeking employment or advancement in a variety of departments, including:  admissions, financial aid, student affairs, student services, academic affairs, and business operations.

The coursework deals with organizational leadership, student affairs and student services, assessment and accreditation, finance and budgeting, marketing, program evaluation, ethical decision-making, legal issues, and general current and critical issues impacting higher education today, including the increased impact of government regulations.  Faculty members are experts in the field with long term careers higher education.  The program emphasizes practical knowledge as well as theory.
