ELIT3020 - Sem In Lit: Poetry
Fall 2012 This course enables students to study the lives and works of important poets from a literary critical point of view, examining the historical evolution of poetry and poetic forms, the distinctive features of poetry, the unique qualities of individual poets, the historical and cultural contexts of their writing, and strategies for reading and interpreting poetry. The course will include examples of epic, narrative, and lyric poetry and may include the study of important poets in translation (such as Sappho, Dante, Mallarme, or Rilke). Prerequisites: Any ELIT course and 75 credits 3 Credits |
