Assistant Director, Sports Information

The Human Resources Department announces the position of Assistant Director, Sports Information reporting to the Sport Information Director and Director of Athletics.

This position is responsible for assistance in the administration of the sports information office whose functions includes but is not limited to public relations and publicity, game day operations, update and maintenance of statistics, production of the media guides and game programs.

Responsibilities include: assist in the implementation of Department of Athletics public relations policies for 23-sport NCAA Division I varsity programs; participates in the writing, editing, and distributing of sports information in the form of releases, media guides, game programs, telephone interviews, etc.; directs publicity efforts to encourage the nomination of, and serious consideration of outstanding student-athletes as candidates for Conference and All-American teams, both athletically and academically; assists in the supervision and maintenance of archival information, records, and statistics; assists in the hiring and supervision of all game support personnel; delegates and prioritizes administrative responsibility; participates in the response to University and public inquiries as related to athletic events; writes weekly releases for all assigned sports; compiles and updates statistical records for all sports on a weekly basis; prepares and edits any post-season tournament brochures in selected sports; prepares all statistical reports relative to selected sports at all home contests; writes and edits selected sports news releases and feature stories for general distribution as well as student-athletes' hometown newspapers; abides by all NCAA, Conference, and University regulations, policies and procedures; reports any known or suspected NCAA violations to the Director of Athletics, Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance or the Faculty Athletics Representative; and performs related duties as assigned.

  Requirements:

  • Master's degree required.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in collegiate sports information.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Commitment to NCAA and University rules.
